The cost of online schooling has come under fire in recent months with some states making it more expensive than the cost of a traditional public school.
Now, a new law in North Carolina is asking people to help pay for it.
The law, HB 2418, requires online students to pay a $20 fee, and is one of several bills being considered this legislative session.
HB 2418 has been under debate for a few years, but lawmakers began debating it this year.
This year, they were able to pass a bill that would let parents choose a payment method that would cover the costs of online schools and acting school.HB 2417, the “Online School Payment Option,” was also passed by the legislature this year, but it’s not clear if the bill will get a hearing in the House.
